Praise from Fellow Authors

"This one was a delight. Lane Haviland, our first-person narrator/main character, drew me in from the get-go. In fact I may as well quote the opening line, since it gives an excellent sense of what's to come: "It is my firm belief that I wasn't always a miserable fuck-up." The story is smart, with clever plot turns that kept me intrigued through the very end. But the standout here is the voice of Lane herself. In some ways, Vegas's writing reminded me of a female Chandler: she definitely knows how to write a one-liner, and how to sell both the darker and more humorous elements of the human experience in the same entertaining story.... I don't want to get too much into the plot thereby spoiling it for anyone, but suffice to say it was both romantic and suspenseful (my favorite kind). Just trust me: you will enjoy this!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed Clean Break's subtle, character-driven portrait of a woman who starts out just trying to get by and ends up creating a whole new life for herself. I'll definitely be excited to check out what Abby Vegas writes next."

"Clean Break has an intricate plot and setting, with characters who leapt off the page. The main character, Lane, faces her fair share of struggles along the way and the author took me on a journey with her as she dealt with each and every one. There were moments of happiness, sadness, laughter, and love, and Lane was a character I wanted to see come out the other side.
A mix of romance and suspense with a hefty dose of realism, this book was an enjoyable read from a new author in the genre."

"Whip-smart yet warm enough to melt the most frozen heart. Abby’s writing is brilliant and sharp, neatly exposing the thought process behind Lane’s choices, both good and bad, and her resolve in dealing with the consequences."
